hear me

what a perfect couple, that’s what they say
holding hands, kissing in the hallway
when no one’s watching, we walk away
what a wreck in trust that we have made.
we’re both silent when something’s wrong
that’s how we made it this long.
our eyes were talking but they don’t meet
breathe, all we ever do was cheat.
i’m staying, it’s my first resort
leaving is just a second thought
i’m the one who lies, as if you’re not
don’t come clean, our truths are out.
your door’s unlocked, I didn’t need a key
you heard the slam, now your bed’s empty
i’m the one who left, that’s how they’ll know me
nevermind, we were both angry.
it was midnight i was walking with bare feet
thieves were running on the seventh street
they stole our neighbor’s watch with my blood on it
a few feet from your house while you’re asleep.
your name was my last word, did you hear?
it’s time to wake up, come find me here.
